holy trinity church and bell tower Thought of as the greatest historic and cultural landmark in Bansko, built in 1853, the church was built by local craftsman during the Turkish occupation. Inside the walls are beautifully painted with murals. The Bell tower built in 1866 is located inside the church compound and stands 30 metres high. The locally crafted bells chime hourly, entrance is free. Location: junction of Al Bchynov Str. and Pirin St.
pirin street Pirin Street is by far the most impressive in Bansko. A stroll on a Sunday will see street traders selling sausages and baklava. Families walk up and down chatting to Mehana owners along the way. During the day farmers cross the street with their carriages and town folk sit and talk outside their shops. The street is not pedestrianised but there is very little traffic. The stone and wood decorated buildings that line the street are picturesque and give you the feeling of the traditional Bulgaria. hilendarski monument Paissi Hilendarski was the author of the famous Slav-Bulgarian History, written in the 18th century. Location: Vaptsarov Square. rilski house museum Ivan Rilski the founder of secular schools. The house museum contains scripts and photos. vaptsarov house museum Vaptsarov, who has a square named after him in Bansko was a writer and activist. He wrote a poem, which is now one of Bulgaria’s most important pieces of literature. The house museum contains exhibits of the mans work and a short film. Visitors can also see an exhibition of local crafts and textiles. Admission is 3lev and is open daily until 5pm.
